Implantology

WHAT IS IMPLANTOLOGY?

The ideal solution for replacing missing teeth, regardless the reason for their loss.

The dental implant is a device made of titanium or zirconium, highly resistant biocompatible materials.

It has the shape of a "screw" that replaces the tooth root and integrates perfectly into the maxillary or mandibular bone. The implant has two segments - one intraosseous (implant) and another supraosseous, called prosthetic artificial tooth stump. A crown, bridge or prosthesis will be anchored above the prosthetic artificial tooth stump.

Advantages of the dental implant

  • Aesthetic –it looks and feels similar to a natural tooth
  • Safe – the dental implant is very stable, eliminates problems like prosthesis mobilization or speech difficulties
  • Comfortable – the crown on the implant works similar to a natural tooth, being stable and comfortable, eliminating dental prostheses problems, such as getting used to it, gum irritation, pain
  • Cost – The cost of a dental bridge is often similar to the cost of a dental implant due to the fact that a bridge requires 3 teeth
  • Protection – prevents bone and gum resorption (withdrawal) that occurs frequently in the case of dentures or retractable prostheses.
  • Conservative – unlike traditional bridges, where the teeth close to the missing tooth have to serve as pillars of the bridge, the implant no longer requires this. Therefore the adjacent teeth remain uncompromised by grinding
  • Preventive –  the dental implant prevents bone resorption. This results from tooth loss due to lack of occlusal forces, causing deformation of the bone structure and implicitly of the facial architecture
